Sales Director Richard Murray attended this year's Cereal Exhibiton alongside Field Sales Executive Mark Coleman.
No thanks to the unrelenting torrential rain, the exhibition site was heavily water-logged and with the arrival of exhibitors and their vehicles, the condition of the surface quickly deteriorated, as seen below.
Weirbags would like to thank the organisers, staff, and visitors for their perseverance and for making the best of a very bleak couple of days in Lincoln, Lincolnshire.
If you were hoping to attend Cereal 2019 but were unable to due to the weather or other reasons, you can check out our online shop to view our wide range of competitively priced packaging.

Weirbags have been supplying kerbside recycling sacks to local authorities for over 20 years. Over the past 5 years we have supplied over 2 million reusable kerbside bags to local councils and waste management companies throughout the UK. Unlike single use plastic recycling sacks, re-usable kerbside bags can be used many hundreds of times and offer an ideal solution for segregated recycling and where kerbside space is at a premium or access for bin lorries is restricted.
You can find our reusable kerbside bags listed on all the key frameworks including : ESPO 860, YPO, Essex Procurement, Warrington and Scotland Excel.
Bags can be tailor made to almost any requirement. Options include weighted bases to stop bags blowing away when emptied, flap tops with a Velcro closure to keep contents dry and secure, printed instructions for use including council logos, lifting and tipping handles and bags with dividers for more than one sort of recycled material in one bag. Bags are available in almost any colour fabric and for larger volume orders we offer the option of a BOPP bag printed to photographic standard.
Whatever your budget we have an option that will suit. From small projects to big rollouts we have the experience to tailor your recycling solution. All our bags come with a UV inhibitor to prolong life and capacities range from 30 litre to 180 litre depending on the application and material being collected. For smaller volume requirements we have a range of stock recycling bags that can be delivered at short notice.

Now that spring has most definitely sprung thoughts are turning to “tidying up” our gardens.
Weirbags have a range of products that can help gardeners to get on top of things. Amongst our best sellers are our kerbside re-usable garden waste sacks. Made from green fabric and available in 2 sizes : 90 litre and the larger 120 litre, these bags are ideal for collecting any sort of garden waste including weeds, loose twigs and branches, soil, leaves and grass cuttings. These are the same robust sacks that are supplied to many councils for green garden waste recycling.
Made from strong woven polypropylene , they will not rip or tear and their handy cube shape makes it easy to put awkward shapes into the bag. Sacks come complete with 2 lifting handles and a base tipping handle making them easy to lift and empty. Best of all they can be used time and time again. When not in use they can be folded up and stored in a garage or shed..
For larger gardening projects we offer bulk bags size 85x85x85cm. These are certified to take up to 1 tonne of material. However, please be careful when trying to move them as they can become heavy
Once you’ve got round to mowing the lawn you may also want to consider buying a lawn mower cover. This eliminates the perennial problem of grass cuttings falling off the mower when stored in the garage or in a shed. The elasticated cover completely covers the base of the mower trapping any loose cuttings inside the cover.
Finally, as the garden season wears on, you may want to consider purchasing some hessian potato sacks. Made from natural jute that allows contents to breathe and prevents rot, this hessian sack is ideal for storing potatoes in.

Now that spring is here and the temperatures are rising, so are the number of seagulls as they take advantage of discarded take away food and rubbish placed in black bin bags. With young gulls to feed they are quick to pick at bin bags for any tasty morsels. Once they’ve found a source of food their whole colony will move in to bicker over the spoils. The result is rubbish scattered over a wide area which then attracts rodents leaving an unsightly mess and creating a health hazard.
If you want to prevent this, gull proof sacks provide the answer. Made from thick heavy duty woven polypropylene they come with a clever velcro fastening and can hold up to 6 full black bin bags. The gulls can’t peck their way into the bag and they keep contents secure until the rubbish is collected. Gull proof sacks also help to contain the smells that attract gulls to rubbish. Sacks are fitted with an internal weighted base to prevent them from blowing away when empty and also have a tie that enables the bag to be attached to a fixed point.
For larger enquiries, we keep stock of bags in our warehouse. We supply many councils around the UK with gull proof sacks. Bags can also be customised with a council print and instructions for use. Whether you’re a business, council or single user there is an option available for you.

This November, charity Hands-On London ran its annual ‘Wrap Up London’ scheme for the eighth year. The scheme collects unwanted coats donated by the public at a number of major tube stations around the capital city over three days. In addition to this, private collections are made from businesses, families and groups of friends. These are then distributed by 800+ volunteers to the homeless, elderly and refugees.
After seeing so much support in London, Hands On have expanded their campaign to Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow, in partnership with international charity Human Appeal. This means many more individuals in need have a coat to keep them warm during the colder months.
Weirbags proudly supplied the woven polypropylene bags used by volunteers to store and transport coats collected, which were printed with Wrap Up London branding in order to help promote the charity. Weirbags’ Commercial Director Julia Pemberton added: “We are very pleased to see our printed bags used to help such a worthwhile cause.”
Wrap Up London hold their heads high as one of London’s most successful volunteer-led initiatives, constantly increasing and achieving their targets. To support Hands-on London with a donation or to get involved, head over to their website here.
