Capable of absorbing up to 200% of the weight of the desiccant contained within, SeaDry desiccants provide unrivalled moisture absorption, allowing users to keep cargo dry for extended periods during journeys such as transatlantic shipping. Where long distances are travelled, vessels will often pass through varied air pressures and temperatures. These cause fairly rapid changes in air humidity, which also take place within unsealed containers. Because of this, goods can be left to sit in moisture which causes damage to products, spoiled or mouldy food products, corroded metal parts and ruined packaging. Such damage can be incredibly costly, making shipping uneconomical for companies shipping particularly sensitive goods. Our desiccants are perfect here, as they can continue absorbing air humidity for much longer than alternatives, which combats container rain caused by moisture re-evaporating within a container only to drip onto products again as condensation when temperatures change.
A significant advantage of our desiccant packs is that they are designed to harden once the formula mixes with water. This prevents water from leaking back out again, which is a risk commonly associated with standard desiccants when they become saturated over longer journeys. Once full, our desiccants remain sealed and will not allow contained moisture to leak back onto cargo. Adding desiccants to your container shipments can provide huge cost-savings on damaged cargo, disappointed customers or business partners, as well as the cost of the time wasted on replacing any spoiled items and refunding customers. Depending on your market, business model and product, moisture damage can destroy profit margins and lower the efficiency of a logistic network significantly. Here you can achieve notable savings and also lower the volume, cost of your dehumidification solution, as due to their high absorption capacity, less SeaDry desiccants are required per shipment. This also means less waste created once your cargo is received at its destination port. Our desiccants will continue absorbing moisture once they are stored after unloading and can also be used for medium to long-term storage facilities, as well as boats, caravans and any other confined space.
Our desiccant range is incredibly versatile, as units can be affixed in a multitude of positions within a container, in order to maximise absorption from top to bottom. SeaDry hanging cargo desiccants can be attached to lashing lugs at the top of container walls, while sachets can be placed next to or attached to cargo itself. Please see the table below.
*Please note the amount of desiccants required depends on a range of factors. For bulk order discounts, more information or other enquiries, please contact us or call us on 0151 934 1250.
