    Weir & Carmichael Provide Sandbags for Recent Flooding in York
    Weir & Carmichael came to the rescue of local communities within the UK by providing emergency sandbags for the recent flooding over the Christmas period. This severe flooding on Boxing Day prompted widespread evacuations in many areas of the North of England. Four 40ft lorry loads of filled sandbags were ordered by the Environment Agency intended for use in emergency flooding in the City of York to minimise the impact that these severe floods would have on the local communities.     Production Operative Garth Merry took part in the ‘brave the shave’ campaign on Friday 11th September, shaving off his full head of hair to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.     Hessian Sacks in Liverpool Wildflower Scarecrow Competition
    We have been helping out a local school in their efforts to win the award for the ‘best scarecrow’ at the Liverpool Wildfire Scarecrow Competition. We donated hessian sacks to Ashurst primary school in St Helens, which they used as the head of the scarecrow. The school's fantastic entry ‘Saturday Night Hayfever’, which is a 1970’s/flower power themed scarecrow celebrating wildflowers and nature, features recycled clothing, carrier bags and living plants.
